Adding Subscriptions
A topic is a channel used by SMN to broadcast messages. After you create a topic, add subscriptions. When the metric data reaches the specified threshold or an event occurs, Cloud Eye will send alarms to subscription endpoints of the topic.
Adding Subscriptions
- Log in to the SMN console.
- In the navigation pane, choose Topic Management > Topics.
The Topics page is displayed.
- Locate the topic you want to add subscriptions to and click Add Subscription in the Operation column.
The Add Subscription dialog box is displayed.
- Specify the subscription protocol and endpoints.
If you enter multiple endpoints, enter each endpoint on a separate line.
- Click OK. The new subscription is displayed in the subscription list.
- For SMS, email, HTTP, HTTPS, and voice notification subscriptions, SMN sends a confirmation message to the subscribers. They can click the link in the message to confirm the subscription. For HTTP/HTTPS subscriptions, they can access the link through a program or copy the link into a browser to confirm the subscription.
- For SMS, email, HTTP, HTTPS, and voice notification subscriptions, confirmation is required. For other protocols, the subscription is confirmed automatically. Messages can be sent via these protocols once the subscription address is configured.
- You can click Request Confirmation in the subscription list to re-send a subscription confirmation message.

- Sending excessive messages can lower the SMN service quality for everyone. The cloud platform limits how often endpoints receive notifications to avoid this issue. When notification limits are exceeded, SMN will stop sending new notifications. For details about the limits, see Resilience.
