What Scenarios Use Data Warehouses?

BI Systems

This common use case provides support for enterprise decision making from daily operations to long-term strategy planning. BI systems process a large amount of data to help enterprises identify new business opportunities and build up competitiveness. Enterprise users use BI systems to collect business data for analysis, presentation, and distribution. BI systems can provide historical, current, and expected business operational data and use report display, data analysis, data mining, predictive analysis, performance indicators, baseline assessment, and other core technologies and methods to mine data value.

Dashboards

A dashboard is a visual tool that displays enterprise key performance indicators (KPIs). Multiple KPIs and related graphs are displayed together, effectively showing business status to decision makers. Batch Data Processing

Lots of data is generated regularly and needs effective processing. In many service systems, data generated by hour, day, or week will be processed, migrated, aggregated, and associated to produce data result sets. Batch data processing invokes multiple data processing scripts or tasks, with built-in fault tolerance and restart functionality. The daily or monthly reports on business operation indicators are generated by the batch data processing system. Batch data processing requires many compute resources, but no immediate responsiveness, so it usually runs during off-peak hours.

In today's data era, data warehouses are even more useful. Enterprises increasingly adjust business decisions based on data and apply data warehouses in their production and services. Data warehousing influences every aspect of daily life, including phone applications, loan, spending, traffic, social security, and government services. Data warehousing is changing the way we live and work.
