Using Backup Resource Packages

Scenarios

Enterprises need to regularly back up their databases to ensure data security and business continuity. However, frequent backup operations significantly increase costs. TaurusDB offers prepaid backup resource packages, which are more cost-effective than pay-per-use billing. Resource packages cover full physical backups, incremental backups, audit logs, and binary logs. By leveraging these packages, enterprises can substantially lower their backup costs while maintaining high-performance, secure data backup services.

Constraints

  • Once a backup resource package is purchased, it is non-refundable and its capacity cannot be modified.
  • Backup resource packages are region-specific. They apply only to backup resources within the current region and do not support cross-region backup data.
  • The system shows the usage of a backup resource package with a 1-hour delay.

Impact on Billing

  • The capacities of multiple backup resource packages are automatically combined. The system collects usage statistics every hour on the hour. Backup resources that exceed the total capacity are billed on a pay-per-use basis. Unused capacity cannot be rolled over to the next period. For example, if you purchase a resource package at 12:20, the package can be used to deduct fees for backup resources generated from 12:00 to 13:00, and the usage statistics are reported at 13:00.
  • A backup resource package does not change the bills generated before taking effect.
  • When a backup resource package expires, the backup resources are not deleted but the backup resources that exceed the package capacity are still billed on a pay-per-use basis.
  • A renewed resource package will take effect after the current period expires, instead of taking effect immediately.
