Sensitive data identification leverages a data identification engine to scan, classify, and grade structured data (for example, RDS, DWS) and unstructured data (for example, OBS).

Procedure

You can use Huawei Cloud's built-in sensitive data identification templates tailored for specific industries. Alternatively, you can take the following steps to create custom identification rules, levels, and templates.

Step 1: Configure Identification Rules or Levels

You can use the built-in rules and levels or create new ones. They are essential for creating an identification template and classifying data. For details, see Creating a Custom Rule and Adding a Sensitivity Level.

Step 2: Configure an Identification Template

You can use the General Cloud Data Security Classification Template or create new templates to manage rules in a centralized manner. Templates are mandatory for creating identification tasks. For details, see Creating a Template.

Step 3: Configure an Identification Task

Based on the created identification task, DSC automatically identifies sensitive data in a specified database, OBS bucket, big data source, or LTS, and generates identification results and reports. For details, see Creating a Classification and Grading Task Using Rule Matching.

Step 4: View or Download the Identification Result

After the scanning is complete, you can view the identification result in the identification task list or download the result to the local PC. For details, see Viewing and Downloading Sensitive Data Identification Results.
