Creating a Project
The project management module is designed to provide a comprehensive multi-project encryption management environment, enabling clear oversight of encryption operations across various real-world projects and facilitating isolated management across different projects. For example, when it is necessary to encrypt sensitive personal data within a CRM system, a corresponding project should be created within the Database Encryption System.
Procedure
- Logging In to the Database Encryption System using the system administrator (sysadmin) account.
- In the left navigation tree, select Project Management > Add Project.
- The first pop-up window for adding an item is shown in Figure 1. On this page, enter the item name, item remarks, and Plugin SDK cache; then click Next to proceed to the Database Addition page. The parameter descriptions for adding an item are listed in Table 1.
Table 1 Adding item parameter description Parameter
Description
Project name
Required field: Custom characters.
Please enter the actual business system name, e.g.: ERP System.
Project Notes
This field is optional; you may enter additional notes or explanatory information for the item.
Plugin SDK Cache
Used to control whether the plugin caches database metadata.
- Select: Check this checkbox; when the Application-Plugin is integrated into the business system, it will cache database metadata information, consuming memory resources from the business system.
- Not selected: If this checkbox is not checked, the plugin (Application-Plugin) will not cache database metadata. This setting prevents the plugin from parsing column information for SQL statements such as `SELECT * FROM table`. If your business system does not use SQL statements of the form `SELECT * FROM table`, you may leave this option unchecked.
- The database addition page is shown in Figure 2. Click on the database name in the selectable databases section on the left to add the database to the list on the right; then click Next to proceed to the Add Schema page.
- Go to the Add Schema page, as shown in Figure 3. Check the desired schema on the right; once selected, click Next to proceed to the Add Data Domain page.
- On the Add Data Domain page (as shown in Figure 4), select the desired data domain and add it to the list on the right. A data domain refers to a specific type of sensitive data; for example, a phone number or an ID card both constitute data domains. For subsequent use, you can click Select All on the left side to include all data domains listed there; you may then adjust them as needed based on your specific requirements. The data domains added here can be used for features such as sensitive data identification within the project; this does not affect the encryption or decryption functionality of the Application-Plugin plugin described here and can be disregarded for now.
- Click Confirm to complete the project creation. After the project is created, you can view the newly created project on the Project Management page, as shown in Figure 5.
