Inter-Region Bandwidth Overview
What Is an Inter-Region Bandwidth?
An inter-region bandwidth is used for communications between regions. Inter-region bandwidths are assigned from a bandwidth package for cross-region communications. If there is more than one inter-region bandwidth, the sum of all inter-region bandwidths cannot exceed the total bandwidth of the bandwidth package.
In Figure 1, two inter-region bandwidths are assigned from the bandwidth package for communications between the Chinese mainland and Asia Pacific. The sum of the two inter-region bandwidths cannot exceed the maximum bandwidth of the bandwidth package.
Constraints on Inter-Region Bandwidths
- To allow you to test network connectivity between regions, Cloud Connect provides 10 kbit/s by default. To test network connectivity, you can ping an ECS in one VPC from an ECS in the other VPC.
- If network instances are in the same region, they can communicate with each other by default after they are loaded to one cloud connection.
Process of Using an Inter-Region Bandwidth
Figure 2 shows the process of using an inter-region bandwidth. An inter-region bandwidth is used for communications between network instances across regions. After you purchase a bandwidth package and bind it to a cloud connection, you need to assign an inter-region bandwidth.
