Identifying Resources
Identify self-built resources such as databases and middleware on servers based on their process information. You can use collection tools to gather more details of the identified resources.
Prerequisites
You have discovered servers or manually added servers.
- To collect port information, resources must be accessible from external systems. If a resource is only accessed by internal services, it can still be identified, but its port information cannot be collected.
- On Windows servers, only the ports of resources accessible via IPv4 can be collected. If a resource is accessed exclusively through IPv6, its port information cannot be collected.
Procedure
- In the resource list, click Associate in the Credential column.
- Select the server credential.
- If the server credential has been added to the MgC Agent, select it from the drop-down list. Click Verify Credential to verify the validity of the selected server credential.
- If the server credential has not been added to the MgC Agent, click Add Credential and add the server credential. Then select it from the drop-down list. Click Verify Credential to verify the validity of the selected server credential.
- Click Change in the Access Port column. Enter the accessible port of the server as required to ensure that the server can be correctly connected.
- After the configuration is completed for the desired servers, click Create Collection Task in the upper right corner to collect network and process data from them. For details, see Creating a Resource Collection Task.
- After the network and process data collection is complete, select the configured resources and click Identify Resources above the list. The system starts resource identification. The collection results are displayed in the Resource Identification column.
- If the identification succeeds, all identified resources are automatically displayed in the resource list, with their sources marked as Resource identification. You can filter these resources by deployment node name or ID, which correspond to the name and ID of the collected servers.

- If the identification fails, move the cursor to Failed to view the failure cause and rectify the fault.
- If the identification succeeds, all identified resources are automatically displayed in the resource list, with their sources marked as Resource identification. You can filter these resources by deployment node name or ID, which correspond to the name and ID of the collected servers.
