How Long Does It Take to Create a DB Instance?
- RDS for MySQL, RDS for MariaDB, and RDS for PostgreSQL:
Generally, creating a DB instance (single or primary/standby) takes 5 to 7 minutes. The time required for creating a read replica depends on the data amount of the primary instance. More data will take longer to replicate. If the primary instance is empty, creating a read replica takes 7 to 8 minutes.
- RDS for SQL Server:
It takes about 12 to 15 minutes to create a single instance and 15 to 18 minutes to create a primary/standby instance.
If it takes an extended time, an error may occur during the creation. In this case, contact customer service.
