MgC Functions

This section describes the main functions of MgC.

TCO Analysis for Cross-Cloud Migration

Share your source cloud credentials or import source bills, and MgC will analyze your source bills, identify what and how many source resources you used, match the source resources with Huawei Cloud alternatives, and then compare the costs of your source environment with the costs on Huawei Cloud. For more information, see TCO Analysis for Cross-Cloud Migration Using Credentials and TCO Analysis for Cross-Cloud Migration Using Bills.

Resource Discovery and Collection

MgC can gather basic information about a wide range of resource types, including servers, storage systems, databases, containers, big data clusters, and middleware instances. It also supports deep collection of discovered resources to obtain more details. This creates a robust, data-backed foundation for accurate target resource assessments and recommendations. For more information, see Online Discovery.

Server Performance Data Collection

MgC can collect server performance metrics, including the CPU usage, memory usage, disk IOPS, inbound and outbound traffic, inbound and outbound packets, and the number of network connections. For more information, see Collecting Server Performance Data.

Resource Assessment and Recommendations

Based on the collected data from source servers, databases, object storage systems, and other resources, MgC can recommend the best-fit Huawei Cloud resources. These recommendations are tailored to match the specifications, performance profiles, and usage scenarios of your source resources, while meeting your requirements for costs, availability, performance, security, and compliance. Assessment results can be exported as further analysis. For more information, see Migration Path Planning.

Migration Plans

MgC provides scenario-specific templates to help you plan and define the migration settings for different application resources. Based on these migration plans, you can create migration workflows that streamline migration process. For more information, see Migration Plans.

Migration Workflows

MgC provides migration workflow templates based on best practices for batch server migration, cross-AZ ECS migration, storage migration, and other migration scenarios. You can select a template based on your needs and customize workflows by adding stages and steps. You can also run all tasks with just one click and monitor the migration process in real time. For more information, see Migration Workflows.

Migration Tool Center

MgC consolidates common migration scenarios and tools for servers, storage systems, and databases. Through a unified interface, you can quickly access the task creation pages of corresponding cloud services with one click, improving both operation convenience and efficiency. For more information, see Migration Tool Center.

Migration Task Center

The Migration Task Center enables you to centrally manage migration tasks. It helps you monitor and manage migration tasks that have been configured and started. After you create migration tasks using migration tools, these tasks will be synchronized to the Migration Task Center. This way, you can easily view the status and progress of all migration tasks and manage resources in these tasks. For more information, see Migration Tool Center.

Big Data Migration

MgC enables you to migrate data and metadata from Alibaba Cloud MaxCompute to Huawei Cloud DLI. Both full and incremental migrations are supported. For more information, see Big Data Migration.

Big Data Verification

MgC can verify the consistency of data migrated from various big data computing and storage engines, such as Hive, HBase, Doris, and MaxCompute. Consistency verification ensures data accuracy and reliability and enables you to migrate big data to Huawei Cloud with confidence. For more information, see Big Data Migration.
