Introduction

If the current billing mode cannot meet service requirements after a GaussDB(DWS) cluster is created, you can change the billing mode. The following table lists the GaussDB(DWS) billing items that support billing mode change.

Table 1 GaussDB(DWS) billing items whose billing mode can be changed

Change Description

Reference

Data warehouse node

Changing the billing mode of node flavors:

  • You can change the billing mode of GaussDB(DWS) cluster node flavors from pay-per-use to yearly/monthly to get a certain discount.
  • You can change the billing mode of GaussDB(DWS) cluster node flavors from yearly/monthly to pay-per-use to use GaussDB(DWS) resources more flexibly and save the costs of unnecessary resources.
NOTE:

The pay-per-use mode takes effect only after a yearly/monthly period expires.

Snapshot storage space

GaussDB(DWS) provides some free-of-charge storage space for you to store the snapshot data. However, if you use more space than the free-of-charge storage space, the exceeded part is charged according to OBS billing rules. For details, see the OBS pricing details.

The free-of-charge space is the same as the size of the total storage space of your cluster. (Free-of-charge space = Storage space of a single node x Number of nodes)

Standard data warehouse storage

Changing the billing mode of hot data storage:

  • You can change the billing mode of GaussDB(DWS) hot data storage from pay-per-use to yearly/monthly to get a certain discount.
  • You can change the billing mode of GaussDB(DWS) hot data storage from yearly/monthly to pay-per-use to use GaussDB(DWS) resources more flexibly and save the costs of unnecessary resources.

Hot storage

Changing the billing mode of cold data storage:

  • You can change the billing mode of GaussDB(DWS) cold data storage from pay-per-use to yearly/monthly to get a certain discount.
  • You can change the billing mode of GaussDB(DWS) cold data storage from yearly/monthly to pay-per-use to use GaussDB(DWS) resources more flexibly and save the costs of unnecessary resources.

EIP

  • A yearly/monthly EIP can be changed to a pay-per-use EIP billed by bandwidth after the yearly/monthly subscription ends.
  • A pay-per-use EIP billed by bandwidth can be changed to a yearly/monthly EIP.
  • Pay-per-use EIPs billed by bandwidth can be changed to pay-per-use EIPs billed by traffic, and pay-per-use EIPs billed by traffic can be changed to pay-per-use EIPs billed by bandwidth.

For details, see Table 1.

ELB

  • The billing periods of load balancers whose billing mode is changed to yearly/monthly in batches must be the same.
  • You can change the billing mode of a purchased dedicated load balancer from pay-per-use to yearly/monthly. Changing the billing mode from pay-per-use to yearly/monthly does not interrupt services.
