FAQs on ICP Number

What Is an ICP Number?

An ICP number is issued by the MIIT after an ICP filing application is approved by the MIIT and local communications administration.

An ICP number is in the format of [abbreviation of province, autonomous region or municipality] + ICP + [entity serial number] + [website serial number], for example, Jing ICP 00000000-1, where Jing represents for Beijing, 00000000 is the entity serial number, and 1 is the website serial number.

An ICP number must be displayed at the bottom of the website and linked to the ICP filing platform of the MIIT (http://www.beian.miit.gov.cn/).

How Do I Query an ICP Number?

You can query an ICP number at Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

How Many Entity Serial Numbers Can an Entity Have?

One entity can have only one entity serial number. If an entity has two entity serial numbers, one of them must be canceled.

An entity can have multiple websites with different website serial numbers.

  • Entity ICP number: ICP + [Number]
  • Website ICP number: ICP + [Entity serial number] + [Website serial number]

Validity Period of an ICP Number

ICP numbers do not have a set validity period.

An ICP number will always be valid only if the ICP filing information is accurate, you promptly apply for an ICP filing when the corresponding information changes or when adding a service provider, and the website content does not violate laws and regulations.

If the local communications administration finds no information about the service provider or discovers false ICP filing information, or the website content violates laws and regulations, the ICP number will be cancelled, which will affect website access.
