How Does Huawei Cloud Calculate the Billing Cycle?

The following table provides the terms related to the Huawei Cloud billing cycle.

Term

Description

Billing cycle

The calendar month when a transaction occurs. Each transaction has its billing cycle. Huawei Cloud summarizes transactions in a monthly bill based on their billing cycles.

Expenditure time

The time when a transaction record was generated. For a yearly/monthly resource, it specifies when the resource was purchased or renewed. For a pay-per-use resource, it is the period of time the resource was used within any given hour.

Transaction time

The time when a payment was made for a transaction.

Huawei Cloud includes a transaction in a billing cycle based on its expenditure time. The following rules apply:

  • If both the expenditure time and transaction time were in the previous month, the transaction would be included the previous billing cycle.
  • If the expenditure time was in the previous month but the transaction time was between 00:00:00 and 23:59:59 on the 1st day of the current month, the transaction would be included in the previous billing cycle.
  • If the expenditure time was in the previous month but the transaction time was after 23:59:59 on the 1st day of the current month, the transaction would be included in the current billing cycle.
  • If both the expenditure time and transaction time are in the current month, the transaction will be included in the current billing cycle.

Transactions, bills, and billing cycles are all calculated based on GMT+08:00, instead of the system time or browser time.

Example

  • If both the expenditure time and transaction time are in June, the transaction will be included in the June billing cycle.

  • If the expenditure time is in June but the transaction time is in July, the transaction will be included in the June billing cycle.

  • In some cases, the reporting of cloud service usage may be delayed. If the usage from the previous month is reported after 23:59:59 on the 1st day of the current month, the transaction will be included in the billing cycle of the current month.

Example: If a pay-per-use CDN resource was used from January 31, 2024 23:00:00 to February 01, 2024 00:00:00 (expenditure time) but the usage was reported at February 02, 2024 00:00:05, the transaction would then be included in the February 2024 billing cycle.
