Solution Overview

This section describes how to use Server Migration Service (SMS) to migrate Tencent Cloud Cloud Virtual Machines (CVMs) running Linux to Huawei Cloud Elastic Cloud Servers (ECSs).

Constraints

  • The source servers' OSs must be compatible with SMS. For details about the OSs supported by SMS, see Supported Linux OSs.
  • Synchronizing the last incremental data interrupts services on the source servers, which is risky. Perform such operation during off-peak hours to minimize the impact on services.
  • The SMS-Agent runs on the source server resources, which may affect the running of services on the source servers. CPU and memory of the source servers must meet the following requirements:
    • CPU usage: ≤ 80%
    • Available memory: > 256 MB

Billing

SMS is free of charge, but you will be billed for the services used during data migration, such as ECS, Elastic Volume Service (EVS), and Elastic IP (EIP). For details, see Billing.
