Overview

Before using SMS to migrate a server, ensure that the following requirements are met:

Network connectivity: The source and target servers can communicate with each other for data transmission.
Access to other cloud services: The source server can access the cloud services that are required for the migration.

The following table shows the typical networking issues that prevent access to cloud services, along with their fixes.

Scenario	Solution
The source server is in an on-premises environment, has no Internet access, and cannot access the target server on the cloud.	Use Direct Connect to connect the source and target networks.
The source server is in an on-premises environment, can access the Internet, but cannot access the target server on the cloud.	Use VPN to connect the source and target networks.
The source server is on the cloud but in a different VPC from target server, and their networks are not connected.	Use Cloud Connect to connect the two VPCs.
The source server has no Internet access, but an Internet proxy server is available for forwarding.	Configure the source server to access cloud services through the proxy server.
