Networking Solution for the Scenario Where the Source Server Has No Internet Access, But an Internet Proxy Server Is Available for Forwarding

This section describes how to configure a proxy server so that the source server with no Internet access can connect to Huawei Cloud services.

Configuring an Internet Proxy

Follow the steps and requirements below to configure a proxy server to enable Internet access for the source server.

  1. Prepare a proxy server.

    • Requirements for the proxy server: The proxy server must be able to access the Internet and be in the same VPC and subnet as the source server so that the source server can access the proxy server through the intranet.
    • Proxy software: Squid is recommended.
    • Security group of the proxy server: The security group of the proxy server must allow the private IP address of the source server to access the proxy port.

  2. Install and configure the proxy software. For details, see Configuring the Proxy Server.
  3. Install and configure the SMS-Agent on the source server. For details, see How Do I Configure a Source Server to Access Huawei Cloud Through a Proxy?
  4. After the SMS-Agent is started, go to the SMS console, configure the target server, and start the migration. Note that you must set Network Type to Private during the configuration.
