Rebuilding System Disks for Desktops in a Desktop Pool

Dynamic Pool

If desktop images differ from the desktop pool settings, align them to ensure a consistent user experience. You can select desktops with inconsistent images and rebuild the system disks in batches.

1. Log in to the console.
2. In the navigation pane, choose Desktops > Desktop Pools.

   The Desktop Pools page is displayed.

3. Click the name of the dynamic desktop pool. The basic information page of the desktop pool is displayed.
   • Rebuilding a system disk
     1. Locate a desktop and choose More > Images > Rebuild System Disk in the Operation column. The Rebuild System Disk page is displayed.
     2. Confirm the operation, and enter YES or click Auto Enter.
     3. Confirm the original image information and the target image information.
     4. Confirm the image price difference if prompted.
     5. Click OK.
   • Batch rebuilding system disks
     1. Select multiple desktops and choose More > Images > Rebuild System Disk above the list. The Rebuild System Disk page is displayed.
        

        • Select desktops of the same billing mode. You cannot select desktops billed in yearly/monthly and pay-per-use modes at the same time.
        • The hybrid billing mode is not supported. To proceed, select only images with the same billing mode.
     2. Confirm the operation, and enter YES or click Auto Enter.
     3. Confirm the image price difference if prompted.
     4. Click OK.

Static Pool

1. Log in to the console.
2. In the navigation pane, choose Desktops > Desktop Pools. The Desktop Pools page is displayed.
3. Click the name of the static desktop pool. The basic information page of the desktop pool is displayed.
   • Rebuilding a system disk
     1. Locate a desktop and choose More > Images > Rebuild System Disk in the Operation column. The Rebuild System Disk page is displayed.
     2. Configure the parameters based on Table 1.
   • Batch rebuilding system disks
     1. Select multiple desktops and choose More > Images > Rebuild System Disk above the list. The Rebuild System Disk page is displayed.
        

        Select desktops of the same billing mode. You cannot select desktops billed in yearly/monthly and pay-per-use modes at the same time.

     2. Confirm the operation, and enter YES or click Auto Enter.
     3. Click OK. The Rebuild System Disk page is displayed.
     4. Configure the parameters based on Table 1.

        Disk Encryption (Optional)	Select Encryption to go to the encryption page. Select the Select existing key option. Select the required key from the Key Name drop-down list. Click OK. Shared keys: You can use DEW to create grants that allow other accounts to share your keys. For details, see Creating a Grant. Custom keys: You can select an existing key or create a key. Key sharing via resources: You can use Resource Access Manager (RAM) to share your keys with other accounts via resource sharing. For details, see Sharing Your Resources. NOTE: For yearly/monthly cloud desktops, you cannot use RAM to share keys across projects under the same account. You can choose whether to enable encryption only when rebuilding the system disk of a single desktop.	-
        Disk Encryption Method	Same as before: If the original disk is encrypted, the disk will remain encrypted after the OS is rebuilt or switched. If the original disk is not encrypted, the disk will remain unencrypted after the OS is rebuilt or switched. Encryption: The disk is encrypted after the OS is rebuilt or switched. No encryption: The disk is not encrypted after the OS is rebuilt or switched. NOTE: You can select the disk encryption method only when rebuilding the system disk of multiple desktops in batches.	-

        Notification	Select whether to notify users that the system disks of their desktops need rebuilding. If Enable is selected, a notification message is displayed on the desktop after the user logs in.	Enable
        Notification Message	After selecting Enable for Notification, you can customize the content displayed in the pop-up window on the desktop.	-
        To confirm the operation	Enter YES or click Auto Enter.	YES

4. Click OK when rebuilding the system disk of one desktop, and click OK when rebuilding the system disks of multiple desktops.
