Connecting to Kafka on the Console

This section describes how a Kafka instance produces messages on the console. Specified messages can be sent to a Kafka instance to verify service logic.

Prerequisites

  • Messages can be produced in a topic only when the instance is in the Running state.
  • A topic has been created.

Producing Messages on the Console

  1. Log in to the console.
  2. Click in the upper left corner to select the region where your instance is located.
  3. Click in the upper left corner and choose Application > Distributed Message Service (for Kafka) to open the console of DMS for Kafka.
  4. Click the desired instance to go to the instance details page.
  5. In the navigation pane, choose Topics.
  6. In the row containing the desired topic, choose More > Create Message or click Create Message (see the console). The Create Message dialog box is displayed.
  7. Set message parameters by referring to Table 1.

    Description

    Message Body

    Message content. 0–128,000 bytes.

    Message Key

    Message key.

    Specify Partition

    Indicates whether to enable the function of sending messages to a specified partition.

    • Off: Messages are sent to partitions based on their key hash.
    • On: Messages are sent to specified partitions. Requires the partition ID.

  8. Click OK.

    You can view the sent messages on the Message Query page.
