SMS.3205 Failed to Mount Partition XXX to Directory XXX

Symptom

A Linux file-level migration failed, and you received message "SMS.3205 Failed to mount partition /dev/vdc1 to directory /mnt/vdc1."

Possible Causes

Some file systems on the source server are not supported by SMS.

Solution

Check the file system types on the source server. SMS supports the following file systems:

  • Linux: Ext2, Ext3, Ext4, XFS, and VFAT are supported. Btrfs and ReiserFS are not supported.
  • Windows: NTFS is supported. FAT32 file systems on non-boot partitions are not supported.

For unsupported file systems such as ReiserFS, you can copy files to other file systems, uninstall the unsupported file systems, and then perform the migration.
