Copying a Database

Scenarios

You can copy a database on a DB instance.

Constraints

  • Copying a database with a large amount of data takes an extended period of time.
  • System databases master, tempdb, model, msdb, and rdsadmin cannot be copied.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the management console.
  2. Click in the upper left corner of the page and choose Databases > Relational Database Service.
  3. On the Instances page, click the instance name.
  4. In the navigation pane on the left, choose Databases and Accounts.
  5. On the Databases tab page, locate the target database and choose More > Copy in the Operation column.
  6. In the displayed dialog box, enter the new database name and click OK.
