Using Server Monitoring
Server monitoring performs basic monitoring, OS monitoring, and process monitoring for servers.
- Basic monitoring provides Agent-free monitoring for basic ECS or BMS metrics.
- OS monitoring provides system-wide, active, and fine-grained monitoring for servers, and requires Agents to be installed on the servers that will be monitored.
- Process monitoring is used to monitor active processes on a host.
Functions
- Various Metrics
Server Monitoring provides more than 40 metrics, such as metrics for CPU, memory, disk, and network, to meet the basic monitoring and O&M requirements for servers.
- Fine-grained Monitoring
After the Agent is installed, data of Agent-related metrics is reported once every 1 minute.
- Process Monitoring
CPU usage, memory usage, and number of opened files used by active processes are monitored to facilitate your understanding of the resource usages on ECSs or BMSs.
Using Server Monitoring
- Log in to the management console.
- Under Management & Deployment, select Cloud Eye.
- In the navigation pane on the left, choose Server Monitoring.
- Select the target ECS or BMS and install the Agent on it.
- Change the DNS server address of and add security group rules to the target ECS or BMS. For details, see Modifying the DNS Server Address and Adding Security Group Rules (Linux) or Modifying the DNS Server Address and Adding Security Group Rules (Windows).
- Install the Agent. For details, see Installing the Agent (Linux) or Installing and Configuring the Agent (Windows).
