Why Does My Bucket Generate Storage Costs Even Though There Are No Objects in It?

OBS storage space is billable. In addition to objects, deleted objects and fragments in a bucket all take up storage space.

Checking for Deleted Objects

What Is a Deleted Object?

  1. In the navigation pane of OBS Console, choose Buckets.
  2. In the bucket list, click the desired bucket. The Objects page is displayed.
  3. Check whether Historical Versions exists above the object list.

    • If it does not exist, there are no deleted objects.
    • If it exists, enable Historical Versions and check whether any objects marked with Historical Version are displayed in the object list.
      • If no such objects are displayed, there are no deleted objects.
      • If such objects are displayed, there are deleted objects. To permanently delete them, select all objects marked with Historical Version and click Permanently Delete above the list.

Checking for Fragments

Deleting Fragments

  1. In the navigation pane of OBS Console, choose Buckets.
  2. In the bucket list, click the desired bucket. The Objects page is displayed.
  3. On the displayed page, click the Fragments tab to view the fragments in the bucket.

To clear up fragments, select all fragments and click Delete above the list.
