Applying and Removing an Automatic Snapshot Policy
Scenarios
During routine data protection, you may create snapshots for disks to prevent data loss. However, manually creating snapshots is time-consuming and can be easily overlooked. Therefore, it is recommended that you use automatic snapshot policies to schedule snapshot creation for your disks. After creating an automatic snapshot policy, you need to apply it to desired disks. Then, the system automatically creates standard snapshots for the disks. When automatic standard snapshots are no longer needed for certain disks, you can remove the policy from these disks to avoid resource wastes.
This section describes how to apply and remove an automatic snapshot policy. For details, see Table 1.

- Sign in to the EVS console.
- In the navigation pane on the left, choose Elastic Volume Service > Disks.
- In the disk list, locate the target disk and choose More > Apply Automatic Snapshot Policy in the Operation column.
- On the displayed page, select the target policy.
- Click OK.
- After the policy is applied, the system automatically creates snapshots based on the policy. In the snapshot list, the value of Source is Automatic creation.

- Sign in to the EVS console.
- In the navigation pane on the left, choose Elastic Volume Service > Snapshots to go to the Snapshots page.
- Click the Automatic Snapshot Policies tab, locate the target policy in the policy list, and click Apply Policy in the Operation column.
- On the displayed page, select one or multiple EVS disks to apply the policy. Then, the system automatically creates snapshots for the selected disks.
- After the policy is applied, the system automatically creates snapshots based on the policy. In the snapshot list, the value of Source is Automatic creation.

Removing the Policy on the Automatic Snapshot Policies Page
- Sign in to the EVS console.
- In the navigation pane on the left, choose Elastic Volume Service > Snapshots to go to the Snapshots page.
- Click the Automatic Snapshot Policies tab, locate the target policy in the policy list, and choose More > Remove Policy in the Operation column.
- In the displayed dialog box, select one or more disks for which you want to remove the policy, and click OK. A message will be displayed in the upper right corner, indicating that the policy is removed successfully.
