About Predefined Tags

What Are Predefined Tags Used for?

Predefined tags allow you to implement a standardized tagging plan. By creating tags in advance, you can ensure consistency across resources and save time by selecting existing keys and values instead of entering them manually each time.

How Do I Use Predefined Tags for Resources?

When adding tags to a resource, select the desired predefined tags from the drop-down list in the input box. This eliminates the need to manually enter the key and value.

How Can I Delete Predefined Tags?

You can delete predefined tags using either of the following methods:

  • Individual deletion: Click Delete to the right of the target tag.
  • Batch deletion: Select multiple tags and click Delete above the list.

Can a Deleted Predefined Tag Still Be Selected When Adding Tags?

No.

Once a predefined tag is deleted, it is removed from the list and can no longer be selected for new associations.

What Can I Do If Predefined Tags Fail To Be Imported?

Import failures are typically caused by issues with file format, content, or quantity. Troubleshooting steps include:

  1. Check File Encoding

Ensure the CSV file is encoded in UTF-8. If it is not, open the file in Notepad, save it with UTF-8 encoding, and attempt the import again.

  2. Verify Character and Length Limits
    • A tag key can contain a maximum of 36 characters, including digits, letters, underscores (_), and hyphens (-).
    • A tag value can contain a maximum of 43 characters, including digits, letters, underscores (_), periods (.), and hyphens (-).
  3. Check Quota Limits

An account can have a maximum of 500 predefined tags. Delete unnecessary tags before attempting to import new ones.
