Billing Mode
Huawei Cloud Astro Zero supports only the yearly/monthly billing mode. Yearly/Monthly is suitable for users with consistent resource needs and wanting to reduce costs. You can pre-purchase Huawei Cloud Astro Zero resources at discounted prices. For details about different billing modes, see Huawei Cloud Astro Zero Pricing Details.

- Long-term projects, such as building applications for enterprise operations management
- Workloads with predictable traffic bursts, for example, e-commerce promotions or festivals
- Workloads with high data security requirements

Billing Cycle
A yearly/monthly Huawei Cloud Astro Zero resource is billed for the purchased duration. The billing starts when you activated or renewed the subscription (precise to seconds), and ends at 23:59:59 of the expiry date.
For example, if you purchased a Huawei Cloud Astro Zero professional instance for one month on March 08, 2023, 15:50:04, the billing period is from March 08, 2023, 15:50:04 to April 08, 2023, 23:59:59.
Billing Example
Assume that you purchased a yearly/monthly Huawei Cloud Astro Zero instance (professional edition with 35 users) for one month on March 08, 2023, 15:50:04 and will manually renew it for another month before it expires:
- Billed usage period 1: March 08, 2023, 15:50:04 to April 08, 2023, 23:59:59
- Billed usage period 2: April 08, 2023, 23:59:59 to May 08, 2023, 23:59:59

Impact on Billing After Specification Change
If the current yearly or monthly Huawei Cloud Astro Zero edition does not meet your needs, upgrade the specifications via the console. You can upgrade from the free edition to the standard or professional edition. The system will then recalculate the price and adjust your bill accordingly, either charging or refunding the difference.
If you upgrade your edition, you need to pay the difference in price.
Upgrade fee = Price of the new edition × Remaining duration – Price of the old edition that is not upgraded × Remaining duration
Example of calculating the remaining duration:
If you purchased a 3-year subscription (November 01, 2023 to November 01, 2026) and changed its edition on May 01, 2024, then the remaining duration would be as follows: Remaining duration in 2024 + Remaining duration in 2025 + Remaining duration in 2026 = 244/365 + 1 + 305/365 = 2.50 years
Impact of Expiration
Figure 2 shows the statuses a yearly/monthly Huawei Cloud Astro Zero resource can go through throughout its lifecycle. After purchased, a resource runs properly within the billing period. This period is the validity period. If the resource is not renewed after it expires, it first enters a grace period and then a retention period.
Expiration reminder
Before a yearly/monthly Astro Zero instance expires, the system will send an expiration reminder through the email address or mobile number you used to create your Huawei Cloud account or through internal messages.
- The system will send you a reminder 30 days, 15 days, 7 days, 3 days, and 1 day before a yearly resource expires.
- The system will send you a reminder 15 days, 7 days, 3 days, and 1 day before a monthly resource expires.
Impact of expiration
If your yearly/monthly Huawei Cloud Astro Zero resources expire and are not renewed, the resources enter the grace periods. During the grace period, you can use the Huawei Cloud Astro Zero service.
If you do not renew the resources or top up your account within the grace period, it will enter a retention period. During this period, the resources will be frozen and unusable, but your data will still be retained.
If you still do not renew the resources or top up your account before the retention period ends, your resources will be automatically deleted. In this case, the resources cannot be recovered or renewed.
