Why Are OBS Resources Still Unavailable Even Though My Account Has a Valid Payment Method and There Are No Outstanding Bills?
Context
Depending on the account balance, pay-per-use OBS resources may enter different states. Each state affects how the resources can be used. The following figure shows the lifecycle of pay-per-use OBS resources.
- Validity period: After a resource is purchased, it enters the validity period and runs normally during this period as long as your account balance is sufficient.
- Grace period: If your account is insufficient to pay your amount due, your account goes into arrears, and your pay-per-use resources enter a grace period. The system then will notify the creator of the Huawei Cloud account of the arrears by email, SMS, or in-app message. You need to pay the outstanding amount as soon as possible. You can check the arrears on the Overview page in the Billing Center.
- Retention period: If you do not bring your account balance current before the grace period ends, your pay-per-use resources enter a retention period and their status turns to Frozen. You cannot perform any operations on these resources.
If you do not bring your account balance current before the retention period ends, your OBS resources will be released and the data cannot be recovered.
Troubleshooting
On the Overview page of Billing Center, check whether your account is still in arrears.
- If your account is in arrears, your payment failed or was not enough. To prevent related resources from being stopped or released, you need to pay immediately. For details, see Top-Up and Repayment.
- If your account is not in arrears:
- Payment after the retention period ends: You did not pay the outstanding amount before the retention period ended, so your resources were deleted and cannot be recovered. For details about the impact of arrears, see Impact of Arrears.
- Payment before the retention period ends: The resource may be unavailable due to issues with the resource itself or its configuration. In this case, submit a service ticket.
You will receive SMS or email notifications about account arrears and, when the retention period ends, about resource deletion.
