ALT Experience
If ALT is enabled and you trigger a primary/standby switchover using Sysbench, Tpcc-MySQL, or a MySQL client that is connected to the read/write splitting address of your DB instance, your database only freezes briefly during the switchover.
The following figures show you what effect ALT has when a primary/standby switchover is triggered by Sysbench, Tpcc-MySQL, and a MySQL client.
- Switchover using Sysbench
- Switchover using Tpcc-MySQL
- Switchover using the MySQL CLI
As shown in the following figure, user-defined variables, session variables, and databases remain unchanged before and after the primary/standby switchover.
The following figure shows how the transaction drain timeout interval determines whether ALT takes effect for the current session.
