When resource demands increase due to planned activities, proactive capacity expansion is required to prevent services from being affected due to insufficient resources.

When more resources are required by application system services, resources can be proactively added to meet the demands and avoid affecting availability. In a typical scenario such as product promotions, if traffic bursts are predicted, manual expansion can be performed.
Huawei Cloud service instances support proactive horizontal and vertical scaling. For example, with ECS, horizontal scaling means adding instances and vertical scaling means upgrading instance specifications. With RDS, vertical scaling means upgrading DB instance specifications.
