How Does Huawei Cloud Calculate the Billing Cycle?

The related fields are as follows:

Field

Explanation

Billing cycle

The calendar month when a transaction occurs. Each transaction has its billing cycle. Huawei Cloud summarizes the transactions in a monthly bill based on the billing cycles of the transactions.

Expenditure time

The time when a transaction record was generated. For a yearly/monthly resource, it specifies when the resource was purchased or renewed. For a pay-per-use resource, it is the period of time the resource was used within any given hour.

Transaction time

The time when a payment was made for a transaction.

Huawei Cloud counts a transaction record in a billing cycle based on its Expenditure time. Specifically:

  • If both the expenditure time and transaction time were in the previous month, the transaction is counted as part of the previous billing cycle.
  • If the expenditure time was in the previous month, but the transaction time was between 00:00:00 and 23:59:59 of the 1st day of the current month, the transaction is counted as part of the previous billing cycle.
  • If the expenditure time was in the previous month, but the transaction time is after 23:59:59 on 1st dat of the current month, the transaction is counted as part of the current billing cycle.
  • If both the expenditure time and transaction time are in the current month, the transaction is counted as part of the current billing cycle.

Example

  • If a transaction occurs in June and payment is also made in June, the transaction is counted as part of the June billing cycle.

  • If a transaction occurs in June, but payment is made in July, the transaction is counted as part of the June billing cycle.

  • If, for some reason, the usage report is delayed, the usage from the previous month may not be reported until after 23:59:59 on the first day of the current month.

For example, if a pay-per-use CDN resource is used from January 31, 2024 23:00:00 to February 01, 2024 00:00:00, and the usage is reported at February 02, 2024 00:00:05, the transaction is counted as part of the February 2024 billing cycle, even though the expenditure time was from January 31, 2024 23:00:00 to February 01, 2024 00:00:00.
