Protection Type
Description
- Backup: A backup is a copy of a particular chunk of data and is usually stored elsewhere so that it may be used to restore the original data in the event of a data loss. By selecting Backup for Protection Type, the vault you create will be a backup vault, which stores backups.
- Replication: It is the process of replicating backups from a source region to a destination region. By selecting Replication for Protection Type, the vault you create will be a replication vault, which stores replicated backups.
For example, if you want to back up a server in region 1, create a backup vault in this region. If you then want to replicate backups of the server to a different region, create a replication vault in that region.
