Switching Authentication Based on Users and Roles

Scenario

In security mode, users can switch from Ranger-based authentication to user- and role-based authentication.

Prerequisites

Currently, the Elasticsearch service is in security mode and the authentication mode is based on Ranger.

Procedure

Log in to Manager.
Choose Cluster > Name of the desired cluster > Services > Elasticsearch > More > Disable Ranger.
Enter the password. In the Disable Ranger dialog box that is displayed, read the precautions and click OK. Restart the Elasticsearch service.
After the service is restarted, you need to synchronize the indexes created in Ranger authentication mode to the ZooKeeper. For details, see Synchronizing Index Owner Group.

Do not switch the authentication mode frequently.
