IMS takes different measures to ensure data security and reliability.

Measure	Description
Encrypted transmission (HTTPS)	IMS supports HTTP and HTTPS, but HTTPS is recommended for more secure data transmission.
Data redundancy	IMS uses the Erasure Code (EC) algorithm, instead of multiple copies, to ensure data redundancy. Compared with the multi-copy redundancy, EC delivers a higher storage utilization while maintaining the same reliability level. When creating images, you can choose a data redundancy policy. Choosing the multi-AZ storage will allow your data to be redundantly stored in multiple AZs in the same region. If one AZ becomes unavailable, data can still be properly accessed from the other AZs. The multi-AZ storage is ideal for scenarios that demand high data reliability.
Data integrity verification	During image uploads or downloads, data may become inconsistent due to network hijacking, caching, and other reasons. IMS verifies data consistency by checking image signatures when they are uploaded or downloaded.
Image encryption	You can create encrypted images to ensure data security.
