Introduction to cloudeye-exporter

The cloudeye-exporter tool is used to collect monitoring metrics. If you use other monitoring platforms (such as Prometheus), you can configure cloudeye-exporter to connect Cloud Eye metrics to those platforms for monitoring. You can deploy cloudeye-exporter on your local system or on an ECS you purchased.

Figure 1 shows how to export monitoring data to self-built Prometheus and use Grafana to visualize the data. When installing and configuring cloudeye-exporter, you can select the AK/SK or OIDC authentication mode.

Prometheus is an open-source tool for visualizing large-scale monitoring data. It is widely used in fields such as industrial monitoring, meteorological monitoring, home automation, and process management. The tool gathers data by pulling metrics from target APIs and saves this information locally or remotely in a time-series database. Metrics are collected and stored as time-series data, which includes timestamps and optional key-value pairs known as labels.

Grafana is an open-source platform that analyzes and displays metrics. It commonly visualizes data from time-series databases such as Prometheus. With Grafana, users can create detailed monitoring dashboards to track system and application performance. Grafana offers flexible chart options, including bar charts, pie charts, tables, and scatter plots, making data easier to interpret. Additionally, it includes alarm features that activate when specific conditions are met.

Extended Labels Supported

cloudeye-exporter can export metric data of cloud services that have been connected with Cloud Eye. You can export resource attribute tags with metric data for better resource identification and clarity. Set these tags for instances directly on the target cloud service's console. For example, you can add hostname or IP address tags for ECS instances. During metric data export, Cloud Eye transforms Huawei Cloud tags into labels to align with label customization needs. Table 1 listed the supported cloud services.

For custom tags that can be exported from cloudeye-exporter, the key can contain only letters, digits, and underscores (_), and cannot start with a digit.
