What Account Types Are Involved When I Use Huawei Cloud Services, and How Do They Differ?

The following table lists the account types you may use on Huawei Cloud and explains their key differences.

Account Type

Description

HUAWEI ID

A HUAWEI ID is a unified "identity" for a customer to access various Huawei portals. You can sign up for just one HUAWEI ID to obtain access to all of Huawei's services, including Huawei Cloud, HUAWEI Mobile Services, HUAWEI devices (such as HUAWEI Phones), and HUAWEI Developers. The HUAWEI ID you signed up to enable Huawei Cloud services owns your Huawei Cloud resources and is responsible for their billing. This ID has full access to your resources and cloud services, and can reset user passwords and grant user permissions.

Huawei Cloud account

Huawei Cloud accounts can only be used to log in to Huawei Cloud. Your Huawei Cloud account has full permissions for your cloud resources and makes payments for the use of these resources. You can use this account to perform actions such as resetting user passwords and assigning permissions.

Tenant

A tenant is linked to a specific HUAWEI ID or Huawei Cloud account. When you register and enable Huawei Cloud services, the system generates a top-level identity called a tenant. It is uniquely identified by a name and ID. It centrally manages all your cloud contracts, funds, orders, and resources.

IAM user

An IAM user is created in IAM. Each IAM user has their own identity credentials (password and access keys) and uses cloud resources based on assigned permissions. IAM users cannot make payments themselves (they do not have bills). You can use your account to pay for the resources they use.

Enterprise master account

An enterprise master account is a HUAWEI ID or Huawei Cloud account with the Enterprise Center enabled. Designed for the fund management needs of medium- and large-sized enterprises, this account enables you to allocate funds to your member accounts across different subsidiaries and departments. It also acts as a centralized hub to manage commercial discounts, invoices, bills, and funds across multiple accounts.

Enterprise member account

When a HUAWEI ID or Huawei Cloud account is associated with an enterprise master account, it becomes an enterprise member account.

Resource account

In the Landing Zone solution, a resource account is the minimum unit used for resource isolation. Resource accounts help manage enterprise resources and security. They are created exclusively by an enterprise master account and automatically associated with that enterprise master account.

Partner account

Different from a HUAWEI ID, a partner account is a management account used by Huawei Cloud partners to acquire, develop, and support customers. Partners use this account to fulfill core responsibilities, including credit allocation, service sales, billing, and making payments. Each partner account can be associated with multiple HUAWEI IDs. Once associated, the HUAWEI IDs become the partner's sub-customer accounts.

Management account

A management account is used to create an organization via the Organizations service. It can manage the organizational units (OUs), accounts, and policies of the organization.

Member account

Except for the management account, other accounts in an organization are member accounts. Each member account is part of only one organization at a time. Generally, member accounts hold resources for a specific application or project of an organization.
