Editing or Deleting a Tag Policy
Scenarios
If a tag policy fails to manage or control resource tags effectively, you must modify the policy. If a specific policy is no longer necessary, it should be deleted.
The following describes how to edit and delete a tag policy.
You can edit or delete a tag policy as the organization administrator, but not as a delegated administrator.
Editing a Tag Policy
- Log in to the Organizations console as an organization administrator or using the management account.
- Access the Policies page, and click Tag policies.
- Locate the target tag policy and click Modify in the Operation column. The Edit Tag Policy page is displayed. Figure 1 Editing a tag policy
- Enter a new policy name and description.
- Edit the policy content if needed. You can choose either visual editor or JSON to edit the policy.
- Click Save in the lower right corner. If the tag policy is updated successfully, it will be added to the list.
Deleting a Tag Policy
A tag policy that is attached to OUs or accounts cannot be deleted. To delete such a tag policy, you need to detach it from the OUs or accounts first.
- Log in to the Organizations console as an organization administrator or using the management account.
- Access the Policies page, and click Tag policies.
- Locate the tag policy you want to delete and click Delete in the Operation column.
- Click OK in the displayed dialog box. Figure 2 Deleting a tag policy
