PERF04-01 Defining Acceptance Criteria

  • Risk level

    High

  • Key strategies

Acceptance criteria are used to evaluate whether a specified workload meets performance requirements. They should be defined properly before performance testing.

    • Checking performance targets

Performance targets define the performance level required for a workload. Check the performance targets set for the workload. They may include response time, throughput, resource usage, or any other performance indicators. For example, the response time may be expected to be less than 2 seconds.

    • Defining acceptance criteria

Convert performance targets into specific acceptance criteria that can be used to evaluate the performance. For example, if the response time is expected to be 2 seconds or less, the acceptance criterion can be 2 seconds or less for the average response time under the workload. Use the acceptance criteria to determine whether the performance level meets the requirements under the workload.
