Switching to Ranger-based Authentication
Scenario
In security mode, users can switch from user- and role-based authentication to Ranger-based authentication.
Prerequisites
- Currently, the Elasticsearch service is in security mode and the authentication mode is based on users and roles.
- You need to create a policy in Ranger based on the index name and permission control information used by the user and by referring to Authentication Based on Ranger. Otherwise, the index created in the old authentication mode cannot be accessed after the switchover.
Procedure
- Log in to Manager.
- Choose Cluster > Name of the desired cluster > Services > Elasticsearch > More > Enable Ranger.
- After the modification is successful, restart the Elasticsearch service.
Do not switch the authentication mode frequently.
