Changing the Storage Type
Scenarios
To improve storage performance of your DB instance, you can change the storage type as needed.
Constraints
- To change the storage type, contact customer service.
- The storage type can only be upgraded, but not downgraded.
- Both ultra-high I/O and cloud SSD can be changed to extreme SSD.
- If the storage type of a read replica is different from that of its associated DB instance, the data synchronization may be affected. To change the storage type of a DB instance, change that of its read replica (if any) first to ensure that the storage type of the read replica is the same as that of the DB instance.
- Changing the storage type may affect storage performance, so the storage type should be changed during off-peak hours.
- Changing the storage type takes several minutes or even hours, depending on the throughput, storage space, original storage type, and new storage type.
Procedure
- Log in to the management console.
- Click in the upper left corner and select a region and a project.
