TCO Analysis for On-Prem to Cloud Migration

Updated on 2025-02-17 GMT+08:00

You can specify your on-premises infrastructure details to estimate the cost savings you can realize by migrating on-premises workloads to Huawei Cloud.

Creating a Task

  1. Sign in to the MgC console. In the navigation pane, under Project, choose a project from the drop-down list.
  2. In the navigation pane, choose Assess > Surveys.
  3. Under the TCO Analysis: On-Prem to Cloud Migration card, click Create Task.

  4. Set parameters in the Data Center area. For details, see Table 1.

The default value is 34%. The value must be between 1 and 1,000.

    Cost Calculation Method

Determine how to specify the costs of reserved resources.

    • If you select Percentage, set the following parameters:
      • Performance Reservation: The default value is 30%. The value ranges from 1 to 100.
      • Redundancy Reservation: The default value is 30%. The value ranges from 1 to 100.

    NOTE:

The sum of percentages specified for CPU cores for high performance, cost-effectiveness, and cost-optimization must add up to 100%.

    % of Cost-Effective CPU Cores

For example, microservices, web and application servers, and business intelligence solutions. Huawei Cloud instance series aC7 is recommended. The default value is 20%.

    NOTE:

The sum of percentages specified for CPUs for high performance, cost-effectiveness, and cost-optimization must add up to 100%.

    % of Cost-Optimized CPU Cores

For example, development/testing, internal applications, and batch processing. Huawei Cloud instance series S7 and Flexus are recommended. The default value is 60%.

    NOTE:

The sum of percentages specified for CPUs for high performance, cost-effectiveness, and cost-optimization must add up to 100%.

    VMware Virtualization

The total number of vCPUs hosted on physical CPU cores. If your workloads run on VMs, this number is used to calculate the number of underlying physical servers.

    • If you select No, VMware virtualization is not involved in your source environment.
    • If you select Yes, set the total number of vCPUs. The default value is 300. The value ranges from 1 to 100,000,000.

  6. Set parameters in the Storage area. For details about the parameters, see Table 3.

    Table 3 Specifying storage details

    Parameter
