Unbinding a Global EIP

Scenarios

This section describes how to unbind a global EIP from an ECS.

You can unbind a global EIP when:
  • You no longer need it.
  • You want to bind it to another instance.

After a global EIP is unbound from an ECS, the ECS can no longer access the Internet. Before unbinding a global EIP, ensure that the ECS does not need to access the Internet or an alternative network connection is available.

Constraints

When you unbind a global EIP from an instance, the system automatically unbinds the global connection bandwidth from the global EIP. Ensure that no service is running on the instance. Otherwise, services will be interrupted.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the ECS console and access the ECS list page.
  2. In the ECS list, select the target ECS and choose More > Manage Network > Unbind Global EIP in the Operation column.
  3. Locate the row that contains the target global EIP, and click Unbind in the Operation column.

A confirmation dialog box is displayed.

  4. Click OK.

In the global EIP list, you can see that the global EIP has no instance bound.

Follow-up Procedure

Releasing a Global EIP: If a global EIP has been unbound from an ECS and is no longer needed, you can release or unsubscribe from it.
