Managing Auto Launch Groups
Scenarios
After an auto launch group is created, you can view the configuration information of the group and the list of ECSs created through the group. You can also modify the auto launch group configurations such as the name, target capacity, and the quantity of pay-per-use ECSs as required. If an auto launch group is no longer needed, you can delete it.
This section describes how to perform common operations on auto launch groups. For details, see Viewing Details About an Auto Launch Group, Modifying an Auto Launch Group, and Deleting an Auto Launch Group.
Billing
Auto launch groups are free, but ECSs created through them are billed normally.
For details about billing rules, see Billing Modes. For details about prices, see ECS Product Pricing Details.
Constraints
- Only auto launch groups of the continuous delivery type can be modified.
- Auto launch groups support pay-per-use and spot pricing (spot mode) billing.
After a spot ECS is purchased, if the market price is higher than the maximum price you are willing to pay or the inventory resources are insufficient, the spot ECS will be reclaimed. Back up data when using such ECSs. For details about how to back up data, see Backing Up an ECS.
Prerequisites
An auto launch group has been created. For details, see Creating an Auto Launch Group.
Viewing Details About an Auto Launch Group
- Go to the Auto Launch Groups page.
- Click the name of the auto launch group to be viewed. The group details page is displayed.
- Click the Basic Information tab to view the basic information and capacity overview of the auto launch group.
In the Basic Information area, you can view the name, launch template, delivery type, allocation strategy, and start and end time of the group.
In the Capacity Overview area, you can view the current and target capacities of the auto launch group, spot ECSs, and pay-per-use ECSs, as well as the ECS deletion settings when the auto launch group expires or the target capacity is exceeded.
- Click the ECSs tab to view the ECSs created through the group.
Modifying an Auto Launch Group
Only auto launch groups of the continuous delivery type can be modified.
- Go to the Auto Launch Groups page.
- Locate the target group and click Modify in the Operation column.
The modification dialog box is displayed.
- Modify the configuration of the group as needed.
- The measurement method of the pay-per-use ECSs in an auto launch group is the same as that configured for the target capacity.
- After an auto launch group is created, the measurement method cannot be changed.
Table 1 Parameter descriptions Parameter
Description
Name
The name of an auto launch group.
It can contain 1 to 64 characters. Only letters, digits, underscores (_), and hyphens (-) are allowed.
Target Capacity
The maximum total capacity of instances in an auto launch group. It determines the total compute delivered by the auto launch group. If Quantity is set to 0, the target capacity only includes the maximum total capacity of spot ECSs. If Quantity is greater than 0, the target capacity is the maximum total capacity of both spot and pay-per-use ECSs.
Quantity
It specifies the maximum capacity of pay-per-use ECSs in an auto launch group. The value must be less than or equal to the target capacity. Pay-per-use ECSs can ensure the minimum compute of an auto launch group.
Global Maximum Price
The maximum price of spot ECSs in the auto launch group, which must be greater than 0. If the maximum price is higher than the pay-per-use price, there is no upper limit on the maximum price of spot ECSs.
If the market price of a spot ECS in the group exceeds the global maximum price, the spot ECS will be deleted. If both the specific maximum price of a spot ECS and the global maximum price are set, the specific maximum price of the spot ECS will be used.
Delete ECSs When Auto Launch Group Expires
Specifies whether to delete ECSs when the auto launch group expires. If the end time is set to Never expire during the group creation, this parameter setting is invalid.
- Enabled: When the group expires, ECSs in the group will be automatically deleted.
- Disabled: When the group expires, ECSs in the group will be automatically removed from the group but will not be deleted. You can view the ECSs that are not deleted on the ECS list page.
Delete ECSs When Target Capacity Is Exceeded
Specifies whether to automatically delete excess ECSs when the group's current capacity exceeds the target capacity.- Enabled: When the group's current capacity exceeds the target capacity, ECSs that exceed the target capacity will be automatically deleted.
- Disabled: When the group's current capacity exceeds the target capacity, ECSs that exceed the target capacity will be automatically removed from the group but will not be deleted. You can view the ECSs that are not deleted on the ECS list page.
- Click OK.
Go to the auto launch group list page and view the details about the modified auto launch group.
Deleting an Auto Launch Group
- Go to the Auto Launch Groups page.
- Locate the target group and click Delete in the Operation column.
The dialog box for deleting an auto launch group is displayed.
- Determine whether to delete ECSs in the group.
- If you select Delete the ECSs in the auto launch group after the group is deleted, ECSs in the group will be deleted. To view ECSs in the auto launch group, see Viewing Details About an Auto Launch Group.
- If you deselect Delete the ECSs in the auto launch group after the group is deleted, ECSs in the group will be retained. You can view them on the ECS list page. To stop billing for these ECSs, manually delete them.
- Confirm the information and click OK.
