PCMC Overview

Many countries and regions around the world have passed privacy compliance laws and regulations to enhance their regulatory frameworks. Global enforcement of these privacy laws and regulations has also intensified, presenting significant compliance challenges for companies. Since the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) took effect in 2018, multinational corporations, including Uber, Meta, Amazon, and Google, along with Chinese companies such as DiDi and ByteDance, have faced significant fines. These penalties stemmed from issues such as non-compliant cross-border data transfers, inadequate privacy policies, and violations of local regulatory requirements. Companies are struggling to ensure privacy compliance, as it is difficult to implement proactive controls that meet global regulatory standards, maintain a complete audit trail for reporting, find a localized supporting platform, or enforce cross-border tracking or third-party management policies.

Huawei Cloud offers the Privacy Compliance Management Center (PCMC) to improve the automation and transparency of privacy management, enabling automatic compliance operations and presenting compliance artifacts. PCMC has built a privacy protection compliance framework based on laws, industry standards, and customer requirements, and designed functions based on the personal data lifecycle. Data inventory (DI) management is the basis of all PCMC features. Other features, including risk assessment, privacy statement, supplier management, and cross-border data transfer, focus on key compliance control points. Together, they form a complete privacy compliance evidence chain. On the privacy compliance governance dashboard, managers and privacy professionals can quickly learn the privacy protection status and room for improvement. PCMC also allows users to configure policies based on global laws and regulations, meeting regional compliance requirements through localized settings.
