Importing Sensitive Data
You can use an Excel template to import sensitive data discovery results in batches. This simplifies sensitive data management and improves the flexibility and efficiency of data masking.
Prerequisites
- You have the permission to import data on the Sensitive Data Distribution page. You can view and configure the permission on the Roles page of the DataArts Studio instance.
- You have created DLI, DWS and MRS Hive data connections in Management Center. For details, see Creating a DataArts Studio Data Connection.
- You have downloaded the import template and fill in it as required. Each row contains a data record.
Constraints
- Only an .xlsx file no larger than 1 MB can be imported.
- You can run only one import task at a time.
- DLI, DWS and MRS Hive connections are supported. (Connections in string mode are not supported.)
- There are eight columns in the import template. They are RULE NAME, SECRECY LEVELS, DATA CLASSIFICATION, DATABASE, SCHEMA, TABLE, COLUMN, and IS VALID(Y/N). Do not change or delete them.
- Among these columns, RULE NAME, SECRECY LEVELS, DATABASE, TABLE, COLUMN, and IS VALID(Y/N) are mandatory. If any of them is missing, data import will fail.
Importing Sensitive Data
- On the DataArts Studio console, locate a workspace and click DataArts Security.
- In the navigation pane on the left, choose Sensitive Data Identification > Sensitive Data Distribution.
- Click the Data Import tab.

Description
Data Connection
Data connection. Currently, only a DLI, DWS or MRS Hive connection is supported (a connection in string mode is not supported).
Duplicate Data Policy
Policy for handling the sensitive data that is already in the system. You can select Replace or Skip.
Select File
Select a local file to import. Only an .xlsx file no larger than 1 MB is supported.
Allow partial failure
If this option is selected, as long as the number of records that fail to be imported does not exceed the threshold you set, the import task is considered successful. Otherwise, the import task fails. If this option is not selected and there are failed records, the import task fails.
Failures to Ignore
Threshold for the number of records that fail to be imported. Set this parameter if you have selected Allow partial failure. Enter a value from 10 to 20. If the value exceeds the total number of imported records, the value does not take effect, and default value 0 is used.
- Click Import to start the import task.
The system will check the file to be imported. If no error is found or the number of failed records is less than or equal to the value of Failures to Ignore, the system starts to import data. After the import task is executed successfully, you can go to the Sensitive Data Distribution page to view the import result.
