Setting Monitoring Alarm Rules
Scenarios
Alarm rules allow you to customize monitored objects and notification policies and obtain the status of your ECS instances at any time.
Procedure
- Log in to the Cloud Eye console.
- In the navigation pane on the left, choose Alarm Management > Rule Settings. On the displayed page, click Create Alarm Rule in the upper right corner. Figure 1 Creating an alarm rule
In some regions, the path is Alarm Management > Alarm Rules. For details, see the console.
- Configure basic information about the alarm rule. The following example uses Metric as the alarm type. For more information about alarm rule configurations, see Basic Parameters of an Alarm Rule. Figure 2 Basic information about the alarm rule

Name
Name of the alarm rule. The system generates a name randomly. You can change it if needed. The name cannot exceed 128 characters and can contain only letters, digits, underscores (_), and hyphens (-).

Alarm Type
Alarm type that the alarm rule applies to. The value can only be Metric.
Metric
Cloud Product
Name of the monitored service.
For details about the supported cloud products and their metrics, see Cloud Product Metrics.
Auto Scaling - AS Groups
Resource Level
Resource level of the monitored object. You can select Cloud product (recommended) or Specific dimension.

Monitoring Scope
Monitoring scope that the alarm rule applies to. You can select All resources, Resource groups, or Specific resources.
- All resources: An alarm will be triggered if any resource of the selected cloud product meets the alarm policy conditions.
- Resource groups: An alarm will be triggered if any resource in the selected resource group meets the alarm policy conditions.
- Specific resources: Click Select Specific Resources to select resources. An alarm will be triggered if any selected resource meets the alarm policy conditions.

When Monitoring Scope is set to Resource groups, you need to select a group. If no resource group meets your needs, click Create Resource Group to create one.

Selected Resources
When Monitoring Scope is set to Specific resources, you need to select the monitored objects for the alarm rule.
Click Select Specific Resources and select desired resources from the right resource list.

- Configure alarm policy parameters. Cloud Eye provides a default alarm template for some cloud services, so manual configuration is not required.
A maximum of 50 alarm policies can be added to an alarm rule. You can also click Add Alarm Policy to add more alarm policies as needed. You can choose to send an alarm when any or all of the policies are met. If there are multiple alarm policies, you can click Delete in the Operation column of an alarm policy to delete it. - Configure alarm notifications.
To send alarm notifications by email, SMS, HTTP, or HTTPS, enable Alarm Notifications. For details about the parameters, see Alarm Notification Parameters.

- After setting the parameters, click Create.
Viewing Alarm Records
After receiving alarm notifications, you can search for the alarm triggered by a cloud service resource by resource ID on the Alarm Management > Alarm Handling > Alarm Records page.
