RES11-04 DR Drills

DR drills can check whether the DR system is available and whether the data loss time and recovery time meet the RPO and RTO requirements.

DR drills test cross-AZ or cross-region failover capabilities of services and verify the system's DR and response to disasters. DR drills involve multiple teams and are usually carried out as a dedicated project. DR drills help enterprises better verify RPO and RTO, detect and resolve issues in a timely manner, and improve system availability and reliability.

  • Key strategies
    • Simulate an AZ or region fault scenario and perform a recovery drill based on the DR switchover manual.
    • After the drill is complete, check whether the RPO and RTO requirements are met. If the requirements are not met, adjust the DR solution and perform the drill again.

    • Multi Site High Availability Service (MAS): supports service DR management, workflow orchestration, and drill switchover in intra-city cross-AZ, intra-city dual-active, geo-redundant, and remote multi-active DR scenarios.
