Package Overview

What Is a Package?

Packages are prepaid and recommended if you have stable resource demands and want to reduce costs. By selecting this billing mode, you can pre-purchase cloud service resources at discounted prices. The billing rules for purchasing packages on the CCI console will be described in detail.

Application Scenarios

If you want to ensure resource stability over a certain period, you can purchase packages. The following are some scenarios where you can buy packages:

  • For businesses with long-term and relatively stable resource demands, such as online stores and blogs, packages bring in higher cost-effectiveness.
  • For long-term projects, such as research projects and large events, packages can ensure stable resource usage during the projects or events.

Packages are available in the following regions:

Billed Usage Period

The usage period for the resource included in a package is determined based on the duration you purchase (UTC+08:00). The billing starts when you activate or renew the subscription (precise to seconds) and ends at 23:59:59 of the expiry date. If the validity period of a package has not expired but the resource in the package has been used up, extra usage will be billed on a pay-per-use basis.

For example, if you purchased a vCPU package for one month at 15:50:04 on January 1, 2025, the usage period is from January 1, 2025, 15:50:04 to February 1, 2025, 23:59:59.

Billing Example

Assume that you purchased a vCPU package (general-computing 1,000 vCPU-hours CPU monthly package) and a memory package (general-computing 1,000 GiB-hours memory monthly package) at 15:50:04 on January 1, 2025. The vCPUs and memory in the packages were used up at 23:59:59 on January 25, 2025. The billing details for the period from 15:50:04 on January 1, 2025 to 23:59:59 on February 1, 2025 are as follows:

  • The first usage period is from January 1, 2025, 15:50:04 to February 1, 2025, 23:59:59. The expenditures are incurred from the vCPU and memory packages.
  • The second usage period is from January 25, 2025, 23:59:59 to February 1, 2025, 23:59:59. The vCPUs and memory are billed on a pay-per-use basis. For details, see Pay-per-Use Billing.

Impacts of Arrears

The following figures show the statuses of resources at each phase. After a package is purchased, there is a validity period. If this package expires and is not renewed, the resource is billed on a pay-per-use basis. If your account is in arrears due to automatic deduction for pay-per-use resources, the resource enters the grace period and then the retention period.

Figure 2 Resource lifecycle after a package expires
Figure 3 Resource lifecycle after a package is used up
  • A package can expire or run out. If a package expires but the resource is not used up within the validity period, the package becomes invalid. If a package does not expire but the resource is used up, the package is used up.
  • After a package is purchased, if your account is in arrears due to the expenditures on other pay-per-use cloud service resources, the package is still valid.

Arrears Alert

There is no arrears alert for the resources in the packages. You can view the package usage on the CCI console. If you do not renew the packages before they expire or the packages are used up in advance, the resources will be billed on a pay-per-use basis. You will be billed for pay-per-use resources after each usage period ends. If your account goes into arrears, we will notify you by email, SMS, or in-app message.

Impacts of Arrears

If you do not renew the packages before they expire or the packages are used up in advance, the resources will be billed on a pay-per-use basis. If your account balance is insufficient to pay your amount due, your account goes into arrears. Pay-per-use resources are not stopped immediately. You are still responsible for expenditures generated during the grace period. You can view the expenditures on the Billing Center > Overview page and pay any past due balance as needed.

If you do not pay the arrears within the grace period, your resources will enter the retention period and become frozen. You cannot perform any operations on them during this period.

If you do not bring your account current before the retention period ends, the compute resources (vCPUs and memory) will be released, and data cannot be restored.
