Parameter Explanation

  • Smart Connect

    Smart Connect is used for data synchronization between heterogeneous systems. You can configure Smart Connect tasks to synchronize data between Kafka and other cloud services (such as OBS) or between Kafka instances.

    Enabling Smart Connect creates two more brokers and they incur fees. For example, if you enable Smart Connect for a kafka.4u8g.cluster instance, two more kafka.4u8g brokers will be created for Smart Connect and you need to pay for them.

Can Smart Connect Be Disabled?

Yes. Before disabling Smart Connect, delete all Smart Connect tasks. For details, see Disabling Smart Connect.

What Are the Source and Target of Smart Connect Synchronization?

Synchronization options available for Smart Connect tasks:

  • Between two Kafka instances: Smart Connect replicates data unidirectionally or bidirectionally between two Kafka instances.
  • From Kafka to OBS: Smart Connect dumps Kafka instance data to OBS.
