Creating Tableau Desktop Data Set

Scenario

This section describes how to create a DLI data set in Tableau Desktop.

Procedure

  1. After logging in to the Tableau Desktop, choose a database from the Database drop-down list box in the left navigation pane. See Figure 1.

  2. In the left navigation pane, click under Table to query all tables. See Figure 2.

  3. Drag the student_info table to be analyzed to the upper area in the right pane and click Update Now to view the table data. See Figure 3.

  4. Drag the student_score table to be analyzed to the upper area in the right pane and associate it with student_info. Click Update Now to view the association result. See Figure 4.

  5. Choose File > Save to save the result in a Tableau Workbook. See Figure 5.
