What Can I Do If the Vault Capacity Is Not Enough?

If your vault capacity is used up, CBR will not continue to back up your resources. New backups will never overwrite previous backups.

You can handle the storage insufficiency by expanding the vault capacity, reducing the number of retained backups, or migrating vault resources.

  • Expanding vault capacity

If you want to retain the generated backups, expand the vault capacity. For details, see Expanding Vault Capacity.

  • Reducing the number of retained backups
    1. Locate the target vault and delete unwanted backups by referring to Deleting a Backup.
    2. If the vault is applied with a backup policy, you can:
      1. Decrease the backup frequency, shorten the retention period (automatically deleting expired backups), or reduce the number of servers associated with the vault.
      2. Disable the backup policy or remove the policy from the vault. To disable the policy, see Modifying a Policy. To remove the policy, see Removing a Policy from a Vault. Then, automatic backup will stop, and the vault used space will not change.
  • Migrating vault resources

Migrating a resource means that you dissociate a resource from a vault and then associate it to another vault. All backups of the resource will be migrated to the destination vault. For details, see Migrating a Resource
