(Optional) Creating Target Servers

When specifying the target server, you can use an existing server or create a new one. This section describes how to create one in advance for immediate use. You can also skip this section and create it later during configuration.

Constraints

Tencent Cloud CVMs often use UEFI-booted public images, while public images from Huawei Cloud default to BIOS. When migrating to an ECS, ensure the firmware type of the source server matches that of the target ECS. Otherwise, the migration may fail or the target ECS cannot be started after the migration. For details, see How Do I Resolve Error "Inconsistent firmware type. Source: UEFI, Target: BIOS" When I Create a Migration Task?

Buying a Target ECS

Buy a target server whose flavor meets your migration requirements. Then, configure its Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), security group, and EIP. For details, see Purchasing and Using a Linux ECS.

The target ECS must meet the following requirements:

  • It has compute specifications no less than those of the source server.
  • It has at least as many disks as the source server, each no smaller than the corresponding source disk.
  • Its image type is the same as the OS type of the source server.
  • Its security group permits inbound traffic on port 22 from the source server's IP.
  • It is associated with an EIP.
