Operation Process

Table 1 shows how to use SMS to migrate an AWS EC2 Linux server.

Table 1 Procedure

No.

Step

Description

1

Preparations

  • Prepare the login accounts (with root permissions) of the source servers, and the Huawei Cloud account and required permissions.
  • Ensure that the source server environments and available space meet migration requirements.
  • Configure the source network to meet migration requirements.
  • Ensure that the OS types and versions of the source servers are compatible with SMS.

2

Installing and Starting the Agent on a Source Server

Install and start the Linux SMS-Agent on the source Linux servers.

3

Configuring a Target Server

After the SMS-Agent is started on the source servers, configure target servers and migration settings on the SMS console.

4

Starting Full Replication

After configuring the target servers on the SMS console, start a full replication to replicate all data from the source servers to the target servers. After the replication is complete, the system automatically starts the target servers.

5

Testing the Target Server

Verify whether the data on the target servers is consistent with that on the source servers and whether the applications and services can run properly.

6

Synchronizing and Verifying Incremental Data

Synchronize incremental data from the source servers to the target servers and confirm that all data is synchronized.

7

Performing a Cutover

Switch services from the source servers to the target servers and use the target servers to handle services.
